Greetings all, Jon @ UnCanny here with a small update.

vancouver_island_wavesCanada.com has revealed two things for us, the first being that Legendary’s upcoming real-world take on Godzilla is now 100% in full swing. They’ve also let slip that the working title for the film is now ‘Nautilus‘. I like it!

I’ve added this new information to our new LEGENDARY’s GODZILLA page (for which the link is always available at the top of the site above our banner). This new addition to the site lists nothing but confirmed information – and will only contain set photos and legit photo releases for the film, no fan concepts or questionable images – just concrete facts. Check out the page for everything you need to know about the film!

Interestingly enough, the island where GODZILLA will be filming, Vancouver Island (which you can see to the left), is part of the Pacific Rim. A cool factoid that ties into Legendary’s Kaiju release for this year, Pacific Rim – but nothing more! I’ll leave you with this tidbit from Canada.com‘s article, revealing what and where GODZILLA will be stomping:

Joan Miller, the North Island film commissioner, says Vancouver Island will make up the first shots for the new take on the legendary radioactive monster, which is set to hit theatres next year. Crews will stay in Nanaimo hotels for three days while they shoot the scenes downtown and Ladysmith area before they move onto Shawnigan Lake.

The local work will be unique, however, because very few scenes are ever shot in the core of Island communities, Miller said. Companies usually stay in Vancouver.

Pretty crazy that this is all actually happening, yeah? Stay tuned for more info – production will soon hit a feverpitch and news will be abundant! Until then,

EDIT: What did I tell you? Legendary has officially announced the start of production on their website, as well as confirming all previously mentioned cast members – with the addition of Japan native Ken Watanabe! You can check out the official press release HERE!
