On the heels of Godzilla Minus One’s U.S. release, the MonsterVerse has unleashed their full trailer for GODZILLA X KONG – and it sets us up for an entirely different sort of experience.
Ready for a return to the MonsterVerse? Godzilla and Kong are back. And once again, they must “Rise together or fall alone.”
After their team-up to take down Mechagodzilla in 2021’s hit Godzilla vs Kong, the world’s most famous giant monsters are back in action as they take on entirely new threats. But they won’t be alone!
Revealed by the brand new trailer is an entire tribe of giant Kongs, with one being the “Evil Kong” we’ve seen in the first teaser trailer:

Yet his presence is completely overshadowed by the trailer’s biggest (or mini-est) reveal: Mini-Kong! Harkening back to the classic sequel that released the same year as the original King Kong, Mini-Kong is a direct nod to the Son of Kong (1933) mythos. And he is giving big Minya vibes:

I’m a sucker for baby kaiju, personally, so this is a fun addition to the MonsterVerse mythos. Here’s to hoping Godzilla gets himself a “son,” too, and they can be school-time buddies. What an age to be a fan.
There’s a whole lot more revealed by this trailer, too, including a mechanic upgrade for Kong himself. At some point, he’ll be outfitted with a yellow hand upgrade.
But it’s Godzilla that gets the biggest evolution. In a throwback to his Millennium design of Godzilla 2000 and Godzilla vs Megaguirus, the King of the Monsters is sporting tall, jagged purple spines with a florescent nuclear power to match:

There’s entirely too much going on in this trailer to summarize it all. WB has a full breakdown accompanying the official trailer, though, which you can find below.

We just got a gritty, grounded masterpiece in Minus one and we are also getting a fun, campy throwback to 70’s superhero Godzilla with Millennium influences. I’m here for all of it.
