Hey all, Jon D. B. here with another piece of official concept art for TOHO’s upcoming and very first GODZILLA ANIME:
The image was released early Thursday via the official Twitter account for the anime, and shows us more of the film’s futuristic design/setting. TOHO’s first animated feature for their most famous creation is simply titled Godzilla, and comes to us courtesy of Japanese anime studio Polygon Pictures . We learned recently that the film will receive a worldwide NETFLIX release later this year. First, however, it will receive a proper TOHO theatrical release in Japan. We still know very little of the film’s plot and have yet to see an actual-official design for the Big G himself, but the Twitter account does confirm they plan to “offer an epic re-imagining of the Godzilla world of the future” with the animated venture, in which humanity has left Earth long ago due to radiation, and returns to find it changed and… different.
Along with the new concept art, the following text was also shared, ramping up excitement for Anime-Japan, which begins in 10 days. AJwill be hosting a panel for GODZILLA, so we expect to see either a teaser or more concept art – hopefully of Godzilla himself – then.
【10 more days to AJ 2017】 10 days have passed until the new information is announced! The third countdown planning is “concept art” again. I will gradually tell you about the worldview of the movie to animation Japan little by little. Continue to look forward to the latest information on the theatrical release movie “GODZILLA”! # Anigodzi
Netflix Japan’s announcement poster for Toho’s GODZILLA Anime.
The film’s theatrical release is expected for July 2017, but no confirmation or further details ara available at the moment. Once anyare released by TOHO we’ll be sure, as always, to let you know – and will have a better idea of when to expect the worldwide Netflix rollout afterwards . If you don’t live in one of the larger film markets, don’t despair – the anime will be hitting over 190 countries via Netflix’s expansive services. Greg Peters, President of Netflix Japan, had the following to say concerning their deal with the famous studio:
“Working with the best creators such as Toho in bringing Godzilla to Netflix users in over 190 countries marks a major milestone for us.” – Peters
